Today, I learned.

Today, I learned one important lesson, perhaps the most important lesson I will ever learn. When we were young, we were taught to be independent, to not rely on others, but on our own strength. Turns out, we were not taught wrong; they were not lying.

We grew up and sought companionship, people who would complete us, whether as friends or as lovers. And to each of these people, we gave a little of our hearts to them. And to each of these people, we pledged a little of our lives to them. And the truth is, whether or not they remain as friends or lovers, they now have a part of us with them.

That is why, when people leave, we ache a little, grief a little, even mourn a little. For the loss of them, but also for the loss of the part of us that we have given away.

I told myself today, as I saw a part of me away, “Never let anyone become your habit.” Sometimes, we need to steel ourselves for survival”

A thought to share: Reason, Season, Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.

They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.!

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

The Great Dictator: The Final Speech of Charlie Chaplain

Hope… I’m sorry but I don’t want to be an Emperor – that’s not my business – I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another, human beings are like that.
We all want to live by each other’s happiness, not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone.
The way of life can be free and beautiful.
But we have lost the way.
Greed has poisoned men’s souls – has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.
We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.
The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me I say “Do not despair”.
The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress: the hate of men will pass and dictators die and the power they took from the people, will return to the people and so long as men die [now] liberty will never perish…
Soldiers – don’t give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you – who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel, who drill you, diet you, treat you as cattle, as cannon fodder.
Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts. You are not machines. You are not cattle. You are men. You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don’t hate – only the unloved hate. Only the unloved and the unnatural. Soldiers – don’t fight for slavery, fight for liberty.
In the seventeenth chapter of Saint Luke it is written ” the kingdom of God is within man ” – not one man, nor a group of men – but in all men – in you, the people.
You the people have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness. You the people have the power to make life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy let’s use that power – let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give you the future and old age and security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie. They do not fulfil their promise, they never will. Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people. Now let us fight to fulfil that promise. Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness.
Soldiers – in the name of democracy, let us all unite!
Look up! Look up! The clouds are lifting – the sun is breaking through. We are coming out of the darkness into the light. We are coming into a new world. A kind new world where men will rise above their hate and brutality.
The soul of man has been given wings – and at last he is beginning to fly. He is flying into the rainbow – into the light of hope – into the future, that glorious future that belongs to you, to me and to all of us. Look up. Look up.
*One of the most powerful speech ever delivered. I wonder why we didn't bump into this in college. We had discussed some of the most powerful and moving speeches of all time. But I felt this one delivered by the great Charlie Chaplain in the movie The Great Dictator tops them all. Hearing/listening to its deliverance sent chills to my spine. This is just simply a freaking awesome speech about human compassion that will move anyone who hears/listens to it.

Finals is coming!!

Final examinations. Don’t be fret about it. Think positively. Focus on what you want. Failure in studies does not mean you are not going to be successful in future. Remember the famous line about Bill Gates, ” I failed in some subject in exam but my friend passed in all.” So now he is an engineer and owner of Microsoft.

Good Luck to all of us in taking our Finals Exams!! Kaya natin to.
But for the meantime, study muna.. =)

Nuff' said.

The Three Kinds of Students

Photobucket

  1. The Hardworking one. That even though how many pimples and how big her eyebags can be, she still continues, cause she wants to pass.
  2. The Dependent Bitch. The typical dependent slut of the classroom. She doesn’t even want to be there in the first place. She just wants to be the Prom Queen. Etc.
  3. The Genius Loser. Most of the time they are the ones getting bullied. They usually don’t have the looks for they always study.

R.I.P Steve Jobs-

HAVE THE COURAGE TO FOLLOW YOUR HEART AND INTUITION. THEY SOMEHOW ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU TRULY WANT TO BECOME.

NO ONE WANTS TO DIE. EVEN PEOPLE WHO WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN DON’T WANT TO DIE TO GET THERE. AND YET DEATH IS THE DESTINATION WE ALL SHARE. NO ONE HAS EVER ESCAPED IT. AND THAT IS AS IT SHOULD BE, BECAUSE DEATH IS VERY LIKELY THE SINGLE BEST INVENTION OF LIFE. IT IS LIFE’S CHANGE AGENT. IT CLEARS OUT THE OLD TO MAKE WAY FOR THE NEW. RIGHT NOW THE NEW IS YOU, BUT SOMEDAY NOT TOO LONG FROM NOW, YOU WILL GRADUALLY BECOME THE OLD AND BE CLEARED AWAY. SORRY TO BE SO DRAMATIC, BUT IT IS QUITE TRUE.

YOUR TIME IS LIMITED, SO DON’T WASTE IT LIVING SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE. DON’T BE TRAPPED BY DOGMA — WHICH IS LIVING WITH THE RESULTS OF OTHER PEOPLE’S THINKING. DON’T LET THE NOISE OF OTHERS’ OPINIONS DROWN OUT YOUR OWN INNER VOICE. AND MOST IMPORTANT, HAVE THE COURAGE TO FOLLOW YOUR HEART AND INTUITION. THEY SOMEHOW ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU TRULY WANT TO BECOME. EVERYTHING ELSE IS SECONDARY.
-Steve Jobs

Hell Month

It's been a while since I updated my blog. I've been busy this week with our research presentation.Indeed, October is surely the "Hell Month" with all the exams, reports/presentations/ and the assignments needed to be passed (I had only one undone assignment for me to pass this week). I could proudly say I'm the only one who passed our assignments on time or at least on a regular basis. Most of classmates in PA 201 has yet to pass a single assignment (We got 6 assignments: 3 readings and 3 admin journals). I'm definitely sure they'll be having a difficult time making those assignments cause' I had a hard time making those with the fact that I'm studying full-time and they're working.

This week, we'll have our Job Analysis and HR Planning Final Exam and the last group's presentation. Next week, will be our case study presentation for PA 201 and the Finals Exam the week after next. So I'll gonna be busy for a few weeks more before our sembreak. As I see it, I'm quite lucky I'm a full time student so I have all the time I needed (even procrastinating!) to do all my school requirements unlike my professional classmates whose got little time or no time at all to work on theirs. I understand that working and earning a living for their family is a must and taking up their MPA is just an option but I can still see the importance of prioritizing things and time management as the two values we graduate students should embody. There are 24 hours in a day, we could maximize this by working on our priorities and having a to-do list for the day without really abusing ourselves. Stress and lack of sleep would just make us more unproductive. It's okay to sleep late once in a while but its unhealthy if its every night. Especially in this "hell month", we don't want to be sick because of stress. Absences this month might lead to INC's.

With that said, we should always work on our requirements ahead of time so we won't face the demons of the hell month and we wouldn't be torn into doing our reports/assignments/researches and our final exams. So to end this, I wish all the students good luck in all our final exams and I hope we will get that passing grade we badly needed. :)

4-PEAT!!

‎2008, 2009, 2010, 2011. After all that have been said by the doubters and "conspiracy theorists", the Blue Eagles kept focused and determined to defend their title and capture their fourth straight and imprint their legacy in the UAAP history as the 4th team to be part of the elite 4peat teams. They give their best to be the BEST. Despite being defeated by the Falcons and was almost forced by thetigers to a sudden death match, they showed what the real BLUE EAGLES is in the FINALS, the biggest stage of basketball. They showed great class and sheer determination. We saw what real TEAMWORK is. And so THE CHAMPS ARE BACK TO THE Mt. OLYMPUS OF UAAP BASKETBALL!! ONE BIG FIGHT!! To God Be The Glory!!
